What does Anti-felting-finished mean?

15.11.2023

An anti-felting finish is a treatment for wool yarns. As a result of this, woollen textiles may be washed by machine at 30 degrees without felting. With the help of a film-coating substance that is applied to the scales of the fibre, the surface of the fibre is smoothed. The scales of the wool fibres are protected as they can no longer catch together, so matting and felting is prevented.

Even if the wool has been treated to make it machine washable, we recommend that you use the wool programme or delicate cycle, without fabric conditioner. In general, we advise you to follow the washing instructions on the yarn label. You will find the care icons explained here.
