The baby blanket is knitted diagonally in Garterstitch. You start in one corner, work increases to the center, then decreases for the second part. The i-cord edge is knit along with the blanket, no need to add it in the end. The combination of a self-striping yarn and a plain yarn gives the blanket a modern touch. Designed by Tina Baumgartner.

Materials
LANGYARNS TWIN SOXX (75% new wool, 25% nylon) 200 g = 2 balls of 909.0320.
LANGYARNS JAWOLL (75% new wool, 25% nylon) 50g = 1 ball of 83.0372.
LANGYARNS / ADDI knitting needles, size 3.5mm (US 4).
Pattern I
3.5mm needles (US 4): Garter st = RS and WS k.
Gauge
Pattern I, 3.5mm needles:
22 sts = 10 cm (4“) wide.
52 rows = 10 cm (4”) high.
While gauge is not crucial, it may affect finished size and amount of yarn used.
Instructions
Cast on 7 sts with LANGYARNS TWINN SOXX.
Row 1 (RS): k1, sl1 purlwise with yarn in front of your work, k1, M1 tbl, work in Pattern I to the last 3 sts, M1 tbl, k1, sl1 purlwise with yarn in front of your work, k1.
Row 2 (WS): sl1 purlwise with yarn in front of your work, k1, sl1 purlwise with yarn in front of your work, work in Pattern I to the last 3 sts, sl1 purlwise with yarn in front of your work, k1, sl1 purlwise with yarn in front of your work. Repeat rows 1 and 2, until the first ball of yarn has been used up.
Now continue working with LANGYARNS JAWOLL as follows:
Row 1: k1, sl1 purlwise with yarn in front of your work, k1, k2tog, work in Pattern I to the last 5 sts, sl1, k1, psso, k1, sl1 purlwise with yarn in front of your work, k1.
Row 2: sl1 purlwise with yarn in front of your work, k1, sl1 purlwise with yarn in front of your work, work in Pattern I to the last 3 sts, sl1 purlwise with yarn in front of your work, k1, sl1 purlwise with yarn in front of your work. Repeat rows 1 and 2, until the wool has been used up.
Then with LANGYARNS TWIN SOXX, continue decreasing until 7 sts remain. Cast off all sts.
Finishing
Graft together the beginning and end of the cord edging, so that you have a nicely rounded edge.
