Good mood is pre-programmed with this ruffle shawl in rainbow colours. The summer shawl designed by Carolin Schwarberg is knitted with two strands in LINELLO and LACE from point to point in garter stitch, and it is the distribution of decreases and increases that give the shawl its unusual shape.

SIZE:

Length approximately 170 cm

Width approximately 3 cm to 23 cm

MATERIALS:

LANGARNS LINELLO (40 % Linen, 32 % Cotton, 28 % Viscose, Length 280 m/100 g): 100 g in Bright No. 1066.0054 and

LANGYARNS LACE (58 % Mohair, 42 % Silk, Length 310 m/25 g): 25 g in Off-white No. 992.0094.

Knitting needles, size 5mm (if you knit loosely) or 6mm (if you knit tightly) – it is important that you obtain the tension given.

THE RUFFLE SHAWL IS KNITTED WITH 2 STRANDS OF YARN - 1 STRAND OF LACE AND 1 STRAND OF LINELLO WORKED TOGETHER.

TENSION GAUGE:

Garter st, with 1 strand each of Lace and Linello = 14 stitches x 28 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

GARTER STITCH RUFFLE PATTERN A:

Row 1: slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 3, yarn over, knit to the end of the row.

Row 2: slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit to the yarn over, knit the yarn over of the previous row through back loop, yarn over, knit 4.

Row 3: slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 3, yarn over, knit the yarn over of the previous row through back loop, knit to the end of the row.

Row 4: knit 2 and cast off both stitches, knit to the yarn over of the previous row, knit the yarn over of the previous row through back loop, yarn over, knit 4.

Row 5: slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 3, yarn over, knit the yarn over of the previous row through back loop, knit to the end of the row.

Row 6: slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit to the yarn over of the previous row, knit the yarn over of the previous row through back loop, yarn over, knit 4.

Work rows 1 to 6 once, then repeat rows 3 to 6.

GARTER STITCH RUFFLE PATTERN B:

Row 1: slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 3, yarn over, knit the yarn over of the previous row through back loop, knit to the end of the row.

Row 2: knit 3 and cast off these stitches, knit to the yarn over of the previous row, knit the yarn over of the previous row through back loop, yarn over, knit 4.

Repeat rows 1 and 2.

INSTRUCTIONS

Cast on 6 sts with 1 strand of Lace and 1 strand of Linello. Knit in Garter Stitch Ruffle Pattern A until there are 76 stitches. Now continue to work in Garter Stitch Ruffle Pattern B until 8 stitches remain. Cast off all stitches and fasten off. Sew in ends – finished :-)
