To keep you visible outside even in grey weather - the bright neon loop in a brioche stitch by Carolin Schwarberg.

SIZE:

Length approx. 34 cm (13½“)

Circumference approx. 56 cm (22”)

MATERIALS:

LANGYARNS NEON (67 % polyester, 33 % new wool, 50g =  85 m): 100 g of yellow 1055.0013.

1 short circular knitting needle in size 8mm (US 11, UK 0) if you knit loosely or 9mm (US 13, UK 00) if you knit tightly – it is important that you knit to the tension given.

TIP:

Use relatively blunt needles to avoid pulling a thread by catching the needle in the chainnette yarn.

BRIOCHE PATTERN:

1st round: alternately slip 1 purl-wise with a yarn over (sl1yo), k1.

2nd round: alternately purl 1 together with the yarn over of the previous round (brp), slip 1 purl-wise with a yarn over (sl1yo).

3rd round: alternately slip 1 purl-wise with a yarn over (sl1yo), knit 1 together with the yarn over of the previous row (brk).

Then keep repeating the 2nd and 3rd rounds.

FULLY FASHIONED INCREASE AND DECREASE:

1st round: *slip 1 purl-wise with a yarn over, make 3 stitches from the next stitch (which will be knitted together with the yarn over of the previous round): knit 1, yarn over, knit 1, slip 1 purl-wise with a yarn over, 1 double decrease (slip 1 knit-wise together with the yarn over, knit together the next 2 stitches and the yarn overs that belong to them, pass over the slipped stitch and the yarn over that belongs to it), keep repeating from *.

2nd round: *purl 1 together with the yarn over of the previous round, slip 1 purl-wise with a yarn over, purl the yarn over of the previous round, slip 1 purl-wise with a yarn over, purl 1 together with the yarn over of the previous round, slip 1 purl-wise with a yarn over, keep repeating from *.

TENSION GAUGE (BRIOCHE PATTERN):

8 stitches x 28 rounds = 10 x 10 cm

INSTRUCTIONS

cast on 68 stitches very loosely (if you prefer use a larger needle to cast on – it is important that the cast-on edge will fit over your head!). Close to knit in the round and knit in the brioche pattern – mark the beginning of the round with a scrap of contrasting yarn, for example. From the cast-on, work 22 rounds of brioche pattern as given, then 2 rounds as described above for fully fashioned increase and decrease. * Work 18 more rounds in brioche pattern as given, then 2 rounds again as described above for increase and decrease, repeat from * once more. Then finish off the loop with 22 rounds of brioche pattern. Loosely cast off all stitches and sew in the ends.
